We have 5 diverse choirs at St. James the Less that encompass every age group. From simple hymns to masterpieces with full orchestra, our choristers of all ages come together to sing praise to god and rejoice in Christian fellowship every week. New members are always welcome!”
The Parish Choir
The Parish Choir is currently comprised of 15 volunteers and 4 sections leaders. They lead us in worship every Sunday and on every major feast day. They rehearse every Thursday throughout the year, rain or shine, from 7:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. They are some of the most active volunteers in our church contributing over 4 hours a week of their time. They come from all walks of life and are united through their love of music and dedication to the worship life of St. James the Less. The Parish Choir has grown both in numbers and artistic depth under the direction of our Music Director with an ever-expanding repertoire list. They regularly sing with orchestra at Christmas and Easter as well as our Annual Outreach Children’s Benefit Concert. New members are always welcome. Singing experience is required.

The Sunday School Choir
Our newest choir for children is for ages 4 through 10 and meets once a month during Sunday School class time. They sing with our Youth Music Choir Club once a month during the 10 am service on Youth Sundays.
The Senior Youth Choir
A choir especially for ages 12-18, this group sings at all the major feast day services including Easter and Christmas accompanied by orchestra. The emphasis is twofold – experiencing the music of the masters (Bach, Handel, etc.) while having fun with church friends.
The Youth Choir Music Club
This choir/club for ages 7-11 meets every Thursday from 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm. The children learn about the fundamentals of music and the music of the church in a “club” environment which is both fun and educational.
The Scarsdale Interfaith High School Girls Choir
This innovative group was established as a way to bring together teenagers from any and all religious backgrounds. The Choir of over 20 girls has sung at several Sunday services and most of our Concerts.
The Spring Musical
We established a wonderful new tradition in 2010 of presenting a staged musical with children ages 5-11 every May during the 10:00 am service. The children learn a core biblical story through song, acting and movement. Below, you can enjoy a video sample of last year’s “O Jonah!”.
